I think the tape hack may not have worked in part bc she pre-pierced the tape, which eliminated the one benefit of the tape: a tight boundary that pushed the fabric back off the needle to avoid sticking and skipping. 🤔

I love this, not only did the room turn out beautiful, but it's such a fun idea and not something I've seen before and that makes it so special ❤️ And for those worrying about colour and child development (I work in a nursery), as long as there is a mix of "finer details" as well as "blocks" of colour she'll be just fine. It is the blocks of colour she will start to notice first, and those can be all over the house, not just in a nursery!

Girl, that ish turned out immaculate. So impressed!

It's not a hack as such - but when you get an overlocker/serger (especially one with more than 3 threads) it can be helpful at the start to thread the machine with a different colour for each thread (just a small spool of each for this purpose). If you have a threading diagram in the manual that colours each thread in the threading path try to match those colours or something close to them when you thread the machine. By stitching a sample for, say, the 3-thread, 4-thread, 5-thread (and if you're lucky enough to own one, the coverstitch) you get a nice reference you can keep with your machine for where the threads end up and how they relate to each other once they're stitched on to fabric. It can give you a much better understanding of what is really happening and is so useful when you're trying to troubleshoot tension problems. (While you're threaded up this way, why not go ahead and play around with the tensions - deliberately making one tighter or looser to see the effect it has, or trying out different techniques from the manual, like rolled hems.)

This is fascinating. I will need to watch it a few times. My mom was a landscape artist and among her many other mediums also worked with glass. I remember her scoring and breaking off pieces of beautiful colored glass for mosaics. ❤️ She also taught herself to sew after my dad unexpectedly passed away and her custom made and couture clothing was no longer affordable. You are lovely and so creative. I’m going to enjoy watching your videos.
